Sources and Consistency

Books and sources are not always consistent with each other. Breed standards vary by country and organization. When sources conflict, we sometimes have to make choices about which information to present. We do our best to note uncertainties where they exist.

Not an Exact Science

Bantam chicken information is not always precise. For example, weight figures may represent a target weight, an average, or a range, and these are living animals that vary individually. Similarly, traits like comb type. Some sources describe variations as subtypes, while others classify them as faults. We present information as we find it, with the understanding that interpretation can differ.
